British brand MG, which has been under ownership by Chinese automotive giant SAIC, will not produce its range of cars at its Longbridge plant
MG will cease production of cars at its Longbridge plant, a few years after the brand started out producing cars there once more.
According to the BBC, MG said of which production at Longbridge was no longer required, as cars could be fully built in China, home of its parent company, SAIC.
Production at the plant re-started out in 2011, following a 16-year hiatus after Rover in addition to MG went under in 2005.
MG’s UK operations will remain, with 25 jobs to be lost with the move. Sales, marketing in addition to aftersales are here to stay, though.
The move has drawn criticism by local Labour MP for Birmingham, who dubbed the pull-out “hugely disappointing in addition to premature”.
