All 500 units of the McLaren 675LT Spider have sold out, even though the idea was only officially revealed on 3 December. The news comes ahead of the automobile’s first official outing – an appearance at the Geneva motor show in March 2016.
At £285,450, the Spider can be £28,000 more expensive than the coupé 675LT; the idea has the same 2.9sec 0-62mph sprint, with only a 2mph decrease in top speed compared with the coupé.
Although the Spider can be fitted with the same 3.8-litre V8 engine as the coupe, the idea includes a long list of revised mechanicals, including weight-saving components along with more efficient turbochargers. the idea maintains the same 666bhp power output, along with 515lb ft of torque, with fuel economy of 24.1mpg along with emissions of 275g/km.
The roof of the Spider – a three-piece folding hardtop – can be operated at speeds of up to 19mph. Although the Spider weighs 40kg more than the coupé, the idea can be 100kg lighter overall than the 650S Spider.
Despite the usual strengthenings associated with the conversion through coupé to convertible, McLaren said that will its carbon tub was strong enough to warrant no additional structure during the convertible’s development.
To celebrate the sell-out success of the 675LT Spider, McLaren has released a brand-new video of the automobile in action on road along with track:
