Japanese producer confirms FCX successor will arrive in Japan in 2016 – along with also which’s coming to the UK
Honda has confirmed the production-ready edition of its Fuel Cell Vehicle will make its debut at the Tokyo motor show in October, before going on sale in its home market of Japan next March.
The Japanese producer has already confirmed which sales of the hydrogen fuel cell-powered car are also planned inside the US along with also Europe – with sales inside the UK scheduled to start in 2017.
The successor to Honda’s first Hydrogen fuel cell-powered type, the FCX Clarity, the FCV was last seen as an early-stage concept at the 2013 LA motor show. A second prototype type was then unveiled in Japan last year.
Power for the FCV comes coming from an electric motor which will be capable of providing more than 134bhp, while power density has been increased by 60% over which of the FCX. The fuel stack size has also been reduced by 33%.
Honda has previously claimed the FCV will be the first car of its type to feature the entire fuel cell powertrain packaged within the engine bay.
The firm says the FCV will provide a driving range of 435 miles, along with also can be re-fuelled coming from hydrogen filling station in between 3-5 minutes. In Japanese specification, the FCV will be also capable of supplying electricity to homes to act as an emergency generator.
which’s little surprise which Honda plans to sell its FCV inside the UK, as the firm recently opened its own hydrogen filling station in Swindon.
