Cholmondeley Pageant of Power 2015 – Lotus parade
The Historic Lotus Register brought an eclectic mix of cars coming from over the last 50 years
The Lotus marque was celebrated on day one of the festival, with all types of products taking to the track in addition to on display
Yesterday we were treated to stunning weather at the Pageant of Power – ideal conditions for my first run up the sprint course in our Ferrari FF long-termer. More on in which experience later.
One of the main highlights coming from day one was the Lotus parade in addition to concours event organised by the Historic Lotus Register. The organisation was founded more than 40 years ago to keep an eye on the movement in addition to whereabouts of early Lotus products.
Earliest examples on display in addition to running up the course included an ultra-rare 1949 Lotus 2 (Colin Chapman’s second car), a gorgeous 1955 Lotus Mk9 in addition to a Lotus Eleven Mk11 owned by Colin’s son, Clive Chapman.
additional highlights included a Lotus MkVI, various Elan Sprints, Excels, early Esprits, a brace of Evoras in addition to an immaculate Lotus Carlton. Having spent some time in our Vauxhall VXR8 long-termer, I was surprised how much smaller the Carlton sits in comparison.
The modern-day ‘Holden’ will be noticeably longer in addition to wider. I think in which’s a testament to the Lotus Carlton how well in which’s aged in addition to how, even more than 23 years since in which was produced, in which’s still an absolute weapon in addition to hugely capable.
My personal favourite was the blue Lotus Esprit V8 twin-turbo, which to my eyes, will be one of the most gorgeous-looking cars ever made.
Later in which afternoon will be the American muscle cars concours, be sure to check out our live gallery which will be updated with the finest examples of the golden era of the late 1960s in addition to early 1970s.
