The G20 generation of BMW’s mid-size saloon has been spotted testing in northern Europe
The current F30 3 Series has only recently received a facelift, along with also its replacement – the G20 – isn’t required to arrive until 2018, yet these fresh pictures confirm the fresh style will be already at an advanced stage of development.
The test mule’s camouflage reveals little about the styling, yet the F30 successor will be required to wear much tighter features along with also a harder-edged external surfaces.
The G20 will be also required to introduce BMW’s turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine to the 3 Series line-up, with turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol along with also diesel engines sitting directly above the idea within the range.
More potent products, including the M3, will most likely still use turbocharged in-line six-cylinder units.
When the idea arrives, the G20 will have to conform to the EU’s next wave of emissions legislation, meaning the idea will be the first 3 Series generation tasked with producing an average CO2 output of less than 100g/km.
Like its predecessor, the idea’s required to be available in both rear along with also four-wheel-drive forms.
