brand-new Cabrio type of the Smart Fortwo comes complete that has a novel, three-stage folding fabric roof
The two-seater Cabrio’s ‘tritop’ fabric roof can be pushed back as a more conventional sunroof, with the rear screen built into the item still up. Alternatively, the item can be fully folded onto the tailgate along with the rear screen, at which point the two roof rails can also be removed as well as stored from the boot to turn the item into a full convertible.
The roof, which is usually offered in three different colours, can be fully opened in 12 seconds, even when the auto is usually travelling at top speed. the item can also be opened by outside the auto using the key fob.
Design-wise, the cabrio shares its look with the standard hard-top Smart Fortwo on which the item is usually based. The Mercedes-Benz-owned brand has, however, enhanced rigidity underneath the auto to compensate for the lack of a fixed roof.
A steel cross has been added beneath the vehicle, the A-pillars have been reinforced, as well as the front as well as rear bulkheads have been beefed up. The result is usually a car in which is usually 15% stiffer than its predecessor.
The engine range of the Fortwo cabrio is usually shared with the hard-top, meaning a pair of three-cylinder petrol units is usually offered: a normally aspirated 70bhp 1.0-litre as well as an 89bhp turbocharged 0.9-litre. Transmission options include a several-speed manual as well as a DCT dual-clutch automatic.
The brand-new Smart Fortwo Cabrio will be available to order by mid-November, when prices will be revealed. The type will reach dealers in February 2016.
