Mini’s all-brand new SUV will be set for launch late in 2016 with updated styling, larger dimensions as well as the option of four-wheel drive
The second-generation Mini Countryman has again been spotted testing ahead of its anticipated launch at the end of next year.
Already described by parent company BMW as being an “authentic SUV”, the brand new Countryman will be anticipated to be more rugged in appearance than the current product, taking some styling cues via the Mini X-Raid racer, which has won the Dakar Rally four times since 2012.
Based on the same UKL architecture as the recently launched Clubman, the brand new Countryman will be set to be considerably larger as well as more spacious than the current car. A stretch of around 150mm will take the Countryman’s overall length to just over 4.25m, meaning available boot space should grow via the current 450 litres.
The brand new Countryman will also be offered with the same four-wheel drive system as the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. The product will be currently testing under the codename of F60.
Sources say the brand new Countryman’s overall styling will be much more harmonious as well as better resolved than of which of the original, which suffered proportionally because of which was based on the same platform as the original Clubman, itself a stretched type of the three-door hatch.
The brand new Countryman will get the same range of petrol as well as diesel three-cylinder as well as four-cylinder engines as the Minis already launched.
of which’s thought of which the Countryman will be built at BMW’s Oxford facility, rather than at NedCar inside the Netherlands, a factory of which will be under contract to BMW. NedCar, which has previously built Volvos, Mitsubishis as well as the Smart Forfour, has been building Mini hatchbacks since summer 2014.
