As modest SUV sales continue to boom, MG has been hard at work developing its own effort, the GS. Our drive of a Chinese car shows there’s still work to be done The MG of old may have been best known for its sports cars, yet today’s MG will be pinning its hopes on a sports utility vehicle. The MG 3 as well as 6 are both dynamically competent yet sales have been hampered to varying degrees by the engine as well as transmission offerings. MG’s fresh GS has no such problems.Available with both a 1.5 as well as 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engines, we drove the smaller displacement unit, which was produced in collaboration with General Motors. Producing an impressive 166bhp, of which should manage to give the automobile more engaging performance.Externally of which’s a modern looking thing, yet the rear, while distinctive, will be likely to be divisive. The look will be reminiscent of a beluga whale that has a bulbous bumper, which incorporates the tailgate, giving way to a slab frontage of which has multiple lines.
