The upcoming Audi Q2 has again been teased ahead of its offical debut at the Geneva motor show next month.

These latest images were posted on an official Audi blog, along with show the fresh car under a sheet. While not giving away the auto’s styling, the Q2’s prominent front badge along with grille can clearly be see, alongside thin LED daytime running lights.

A previous teaser image, revealed earlier This kind of week, showed the Q7, Q5 along with Q3 SUVs arranged in height order, using a ‘reserved’ place set aside for a fresh type, understood to be the Q2.

Previous spy shots have shown the Q2 in final winter testing ahead of its show debut, with the auto supposed to go on sale towards the end of This kind of year.

Audi first confirmed the Q2 for production in 2013, along with design work was completed by November 2014. the item’s been styled by Audi design boss Marc Lichte. The type was previewed previously as the Crosslane Coupé in 2012, however the design has moved on significantly since then.

Originally, the Q2 was set to be called the Q1, however in September last year Autocar India confirmed which Audi had managed to secure rights to use the Q2 along with Q4 names by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Speaking to Autocar India, former Audi R&D boss Ulrich Hackenberg said: “the production type will be called the Q2 along with the Q1 will come later.”

which leaves the door open for an even smaller crossover type, based on the A1 supermini, to arrive after the Q2. The Q2 itself will be smaller than the existing Q3, along with will be underpinned by VW Group’s MQB architecture.

When the item goes on sale, the Q2 will act as a premium rival to the likes of the Nissan Juke along with Renault Captur.

The Q2 forms part of Audi’s plan to launch several fresh SUVs to bolster its Q-badged line-up. different products which form part of the plan include the Q8 along with Q6.

Although heavily camouflaged, pictures of test mules have shown which the Q2 will feature a smaller interpretation of the Q7’s front grille along with front bumper design, along with also uses slimline LED headlight clusters.

At the rear, the sloping roofline ends in a boot-mounted lip spoiler – much like the current A1 – along with includes a chunky rear bumper. Centeng cladding will feature around the lower edges of the auto.

The Q2 can be understood to be similar in length, width along with wheelbase to the three-door A3, which can be 4237mm long along with 1777mm tall, using a 2601mm wheelbase.

Inside, Audi could either type the 5-seat cabin on the existing A1, or give the Q2 the same digital dashboard technology as found inside the TT, A4 along with Q7. the item’s known which Audi wants to use the digital dashboard technology on more of its vehicles, as the item negates the need for a separate infotainment screen while also giving the auto a premium look. the auto will offer a raised-up seating position, as expected in an SUV.

Power for the Q2 can be supposed to come by three along with four-cylinder versions of Volkswagen’s latest petrol along with diesel engines. VW’s EA211 petrol engine can be available in 1.0, 1.2 along with 1.4-litre forms, while the latest EA288 diesel comes in 2.0-litre form.

Transmissions should include a standard six-speed manual, with VW’s DSG transmission available as an option.

Audi could also launch a hybrid e-tron variant of the Q2 further down the line. The 201bhp hybrid powertrain already found inside the A3 e-tron – which combines a 1.4-litre petrol engine with an electric motor – could be adapted for use inside the Q2. A sporty variant, possibly badged SQ2 along with using the 228bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine found inside the S1, also can’t be ruled out.

Although natively front-wheel drive, Audi will also offer its quattro all-wheel drive system as an option.

The use of the sophisticated MQB platform along with the fact the item can be built in Germany suggest the Q2 will be an upmarket machine using a cost to match, rather than a cheaper, entry-level, type like the A1 supermini.

The current A1 range starts at £14,355 along with rises to £19,565 for a top-end A1 Sportback while the larger Q3 starts at £25,380. Therefore, a starting cost of around £20,000 for the Q2 seems likely, pitching the Q2 well against premium rivals like the £17,105 Mini Countryman.

Audi can be pitching the Q2 at younger buyers along with insiders say the item can be a response to a demand for ever-smaller premium products. Indeed, the A3 has right now surpassed the A4 as Audi’s biggest seller inside the UK.

“A premium car can be justified in This kind of segment,” said one insider. “As volumes in segments such as these have gone up, so has demand for premium products in them.”
